Berhard Willhelm

Bernhard Wilhelm is a German fashion designer who divides his time between his studios in Paris and Los Angeles. Born in Ulm, in the South of Germany, he moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, graduating in fashion design in 1998. Within a year he was showing womenswear at Paris Fashion Week and launched his first menswear collection the following year. He is widely acclaimed in the fashion industry, winning a number of prestigious awards. His work is distinguished by a love of blending absurdity with high fashion. For HAY, he has applied his patterns to the Smileys Tote Bag and Quilt.
