HAY presents CHROMA

Thank you to everyone who visited us at HAY Melbourne this weekend for the opening of our HAY presents CHROMA.

Explore the below gallery of highlights from the launch event - a day filled with happy guests, colourful design, and important sustainability conversations.

On show for two weeks only from 02 - 17 September, CHROMA is a kaleidoscopic installation unveiling HAY's new Eco Collection, recrafted from household waste.

Through a series of installations, including the world-travelling Colour Crate House, the exhibition shines a light on HAY’s new additions made using recycled content through the brand’s characteristically colourful and joyous expression.

HAY’s About A Collection and Colour Crate are now made with 100% recycled post- consumer plastic. In celebration, HAY Melbourne presents a colourful exhibition showcasing these new designs.

The exhibition includes two key areas. As vistitors enter the store, they are greeted by the world-travelling Colour Crate House direct from Copenhagen’s 3 Days of Design festival, which took a team of four two full days to build, using over 1000 colour crates. The second area towards the back of the store highlights the updated About A Collection Eco, which is now available in nine new colours and made with 100% recycled plastic.

CHROMA opened in conjunction with Saturday Indesign on 02 September 2023 - a one-day design extravaganza which brings together the best of Australia’s design scene with a program of design discussions, interactive installations, workshops, product launches and more.

To celebrate the launch day, the Sustainability Manager at our sister company, Cult Design, led three fully-booked guided tours to present the latest eco updates from HAY.

We also had a live configurator station set up so visitors could 'mix and match' different seats and bases to experiement with the endless variety offered by HAY's About A Collection.

Visitors enjoyed cooled drinks from NON, the Australian specialists in non-alcoholic beverages with bold and complex flavours. Flavours included NON7 Stewed Cherry & Coffee, NON3 Toasted Cinnamon & Yuzu and NON1 Salted Raspberry & Chamomile. During the event we also served a range of Danish-style smørrebrød and sweets served by our team's favourite local cafe, Florian.

CHROMA is on show until 17 September, open daily from 10am - 5pm at HAY Melbourne, 176 Johnston Street, Fitzroy.
